Another Year Older

Hello again; it's been a while. How have you been? I've been well I suppose. I've had quite an unproductive summer vacation thus far, but it has been a relaxing one nonetheless. It's also been rather hot, but I'd take it to the cold winters any day. Still, it's no excuse for my lack of blogging. I suppose that if I had kept up with some sort of schedule then I wouldn't have spent the last couple of weeks being as bored. The funnest day so far was two days ago, my twentieth birthday. Chris planned most of the day for me, and it was the sweetest day.
It started out by waking up earlier than usual because I wanted to get the most out of my birthday. I guess I might be a bit childish that way. I was excited for breakfast, mostly because we had cereal which we haven't had in quite some time. I ate myself a bowl of Marshmallow Mateys while Chris ate Fruity Pebbles. I admit both tend to be geared toward children, but those are usually the most delicious. After breakfast I played Sims:  Urbz (yes I did say that, I have no shame), and then Chris and I took a nap. It was longer than I expected, two hours. The funny thing about naps is that you either wake up feeling refreshed or more tired than your were before you laid down; I happened to be the latter of the two.
Happy Eggs
By now it was lunch time, and Chris made the best brunch ever. I ate two pieces of the yummiest French toast ever made by man. It made me feel nostalgic; I felt like I was eating the same French toast I loved devouring as a child. After taking the first bite I wished that I was hungrier so I could fit more pieces in my stomach. The eggs that he cracked to coat the bread in made a smiley face. I thought it was adorable, and I'm glad that Chris decided to show it to me.
Most of the remainder of our day was spent watching Pride and Prejudice on Netflix. I was under the impression that it was going to be the BBC version with Colin Firth. I was so excited because I've been wanting to see it so badly; all of the reviews say that it's better than the 2005 Focus film, which I absolutely adore even if it doesn't follow the book as closely as I would have liked. We were wrong. Instead we got stuck watching a five part television series of it. It wasn't horrible; what we saw seemed to follow the book rather closely, but I didn't love it. We still haven't finished it. The reason we didn't was mainly because Breanne stopped by to pick up Jen and Shain so they could all go out for her birthday; the other being that it wasn't captivating enough to keep watching.
Bre's cake for Jen and me
Jen came into Chris' and my room and told me to go outside to see Bre because she had a birthday cake for Jen and me. I was outside before Jen and her boyfriend because they were absorbed in some other matter like getting ready to go out or something. Anyway, Bre got out of her car and I showed her my garden. I pointed out how lovely my garlic and onion has been growing, the sprouts on my potatoes, and the buds on my Easter Lilies. By this time Jen had decided to show up and Bre took out a cookie sheet. She baked and decorated a cake for us. It was really pretty, and when I got inside I had a slice; it tasted quite delicious. She put Ariel for me and Aurora for Jen since those are our favorite Disney princesses. I think she did a really good job, especially since she's never decorated a cake before.
When I finished my cake I had to get ready to go out to Sydney's last concert as a freshman. Her ensemble did really well. When I looked over the program before the concert started I saw that they were going to perform a piece entitled Kentucky 1800. It was a piece I played when I was in seventh grade, and I loved it so much. I remember having to play my first high e-flat. It was two leisure lines above the staff; the highest note I had played up to that point. The other trombonist, Addison, and I spent more than a few class periods in the director's office trying to hit that high note.
At the end of the concert I was able to meet up with Syd and she gave me a twisty-like water bottle with a spinny straw. She decorated the bottle in its entirety with "Happy B-Day." I told her afterwards that it would have looked more interesting had she managed to find a way to write on the straw as well. We had a couple of laughs and then Chris and I returned home. When we got there we sat around for a while, and during this time of companionable silence Jen returned home with Shain and Bre.
Jen came walking in sporting a sash that said "Birthday Girl," and Bre shortly followed. She seemed really happy to see me and told me she had something else for me. I didn't know what it could have been, but I eagerly awaited to see what she was so happy about. First she gave an orange bow, which I adore. She put it in my hair for me and exclaimed, "Oh this is so you, Amber! You look so cute!" I chuckled as I looked in the mirror and saw only myself and an extremely cute bow, nothing extraordinary about the person wearing it. Then she gave me a little bag that had the pieces to a miniature block figurine of Doctor Who. I was ecstatic to see which figure I got. It was Eleven with a miniature T.A.R.D.I.S. base to stand on. It looked so adorable. I have it placed on my entertainment center so everyone can see it when they walk in.
The last thing we did on my birthday was dance to Huey Lewis and the News sing "Happy to be Stuck with You." It was quite sappy, but it was cute since Chris absolutely detests dancing. Afterwards, we went to bed. The end. I hope you enjoyed reading about my day. It's not the best thing out there to read, but hey it's something. See ya next time!
